12 branch 2 tier flemish chandelier...SOLD...

2 tier, 12 branch flemish chandelier, with 8 branchs on the lower level and 4 branchs on the upper level

30" tall

30" wide

Fully restored

This item of lighting is solid brass or silver plate on solid brass that has been professionally polished, lacquered and rewired.- (unless otherwise stated)

Lacquered items are not suitable for outside use.

How long does the lacquer last? Well it depends on handling and atmospheric conditions for instance say a brass chandelier hung in a sitting room (not on the coast) with no smoking and away from steam and cooking would be expected to last over 15 years before any cleaning would be required.

On the other end of the scale say a small brass pot on a kitchen window sill on Brighton seafront (sea air is highly corrosive) may only last a year before needing a re-polish.

Lacquered door furniture needs re-polishing every year.

A wax based furniture polish can be used to remove light tarnish from the lacquered surface.

A car wax can be applied to the lacquered surface to help to protect it, just like waxing a car!

Lacquered items should not be washed.

Do not listen to old wives tales of cleaning brass with vinegar, bleach or coke, all of these things will make the brass look a little cleaner when first immersed,

but they are all corrosive to the brass and can cause etching which can be expensive to polish out or even impossible to polish out!

All of our brass work is polished in the traditional way using a high powered polishing spindle with the correct grade of mops and polishes. Then it is spray lacquered for a good quality long lasting finish.
